Scuba Diving in Tenerife

The annual average sea water temperature in Tenerife is between 18°C and 23°C which is IDEAL for divers and snorkelers alike. The underwater worlds in the Atlantic Ocean around Tenerife offer diverse diving zones and are largely accessible by an extensive network of certified diving schools which offer dives which suite all levels of ability. Wrecks and caves make for interesting dive sites where you can experience the diverse underwater flora and sea creatures. The University Hospital of the island is equipped with a decompression chamber and can be reached easily in case of emergency. Surfing in Tenerife

Due to the steep incline of the coast and exposure to the swell coming in from the Atlantic Ocean, there are several spots in Tenerife where the waves are perfect for surfing. The wind conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing in El Médano are world-famous and regularly play host to International Windsurfing and Kitesurfing Championships.

There is a strong European community of surfers and windsurfers who visit Tenerife every year for its world-class surfing conditions. The most popular beaches for these activities are Punta Blanca, La Izquierda in Playa de Las Americas, El Socorro in the North of Tenerife and El Médano. El Médano has several surf schools, shallower waters and high velocity wind throughout the year and is also suitable for beginners. The surf schools in El Médano teach all levels of windsurfing and kitesurfing.
